Cheaper Christmas Lunch in Dublin
When it comes to Christmas Lunch, Dublin restaurants which are open are scarce. This is probably because traditionally, people cook and eat at home on Christmas Day. Also, the sale of alcohol is restricted.
There are very few non-hotel restaurants open on Christmas Day but there are a few mainly Asian and ethnic restaurants open in the city centre around O’Connell Street, Capel Street and Parnell Street.
One which is tried and tested is:
M & L Chinese
13/14 Cathedral St, North City, Dublin City, Co. Dublin, D01 K8K3
This is a good place in the city centre to have something other than the traditional Irish Christmas dinner.
Christmas Day Dinner for the Homeless
Let’s not forget the homeless this Christmas as we tuck in to our turkey and wine.
There are a number of charities which provide Christmas Day dinners for the poor and homeless of Dublin.
One is the Order of the Knights of St. Columbanus who have provided meals on Christmas Day for the poor and homeless of Dublin City and surrounding areas since 1924. The demand is increasing each year.
Volunteers will be preparing meals at the RDS in Ballsbridge, Dublin.
The 450 guests will be provided with soup, traditional Christmas dinner, Christmas pudding and refreshments.
