Hurling: A Kilkenny Comeback?
Kilkenny last won the All-Ireland Hurling Championship in 2015 having dominated hurling for the previous 10 years. It looked like their reign had come to an end when thy were defeated by Tipperary in the final in 2016. This year sees a repeat of the 2016 final with maestro Brian Cody still in charge of Kilkenny. A fascinating contest in store.
Football: Who can stop The Dubs 5 in a row?
Dublin are going for a record 5 in a row All Ireland Football Championships having won in 2015 (v Kerry), 2016 (v Mayo), 2017 (v Mayo) and 2018 (v Tyrone).
The last time the ‘5 in a row’ was attempted was in 1982 when Kerry were hot favourites to beat Offaly but were thwarted by a late Seamus Darby goal minutes from the end.
The Dubs will be hot favourites again for The GAA All Ireland 2019 Football Championship as they appear to be ahead of any opposition we have seen so far this year but will there be a lingering doubt that the elusive ‘5 in a row’ is achievable?
